Sustainability at Cascade Springs
At Cascade Springs, sustainability is not an add-on, it is embedded in the way the property has been designed, managed, and experienced. Set within a natural hinterland landscape, our approach focuses on protecting the environment, working in harmony with the land, and creating a low-impact guest experience.
Working with the Land
Cascade Springs operates within a rural, nature-based environment, and our practices are designed to support and preserve the surrounding ecosystem.
We use natural land management techniques, including rotational cattle grazing, to maintain vegetation and reduce the need for mechanical mowing. This helps minimise fuel use while supporting soil health and land regeneration.
We also actively encourage native vegetation growth and take a considered approach to maintaining the natural character of the property.
Water & Resource Management
Operating off-grid for water, Cascade Springs utilises a self-managed system designed to minimise environmental impact.
Water is carefully managed through maintained septic systems, with treated water reused where appropriate for gardens. Guests are encouraged to be mindful of water usage during their stay, supporting our low-impact approach.
Waste Reduction
We are committed to reducing waste through practical, everyday systems. This includes a combination of composting, recycling, reuse, and responsible waste disposal practices.
Guests are supported with clear guidance to participate in these efforts, helping to minimise landfill and reduce overall environmental impact.
Energy & Emissions
Cascade Springs focuses on reducing energy consumption and emissions through efficient operations and thoughtful design.
The cabin incorporates insulation and energy-conscious systems, including instant gas hot water and wood fireplaces, to provide comfort while minimising unnecessary energy use. Operational practices, such as coordinating deliveries and limiting unnecessary travel, further support emissions reduction.
Supporting Local & Community
We believe sustainability extends beyond the environment. Cascade Springs supports local businesses and suppliers wherever possible, contributing to the regional economy and reducing transport-related impacts.
We also aim to operate respectfully within the local community, maintaining low noise and visual impact and encouraging guests to appreciate and respect the surrounding environment.
Guest Experience & Responsibility
Our approach to sustainability is shared with our guests. Cascade Springs is designed to offer a slower, more intentional experience, encouraging guests to disconnect from busy routines and reconnect with nature.
We provide guidance on how to minimise impact during your stay, from waste practices to respecting the natural environment, ensuring that each visit contributes to the long-term preservation of the property.
Continuous Improvement
Sustainability is an ongoing commitment. We regularly review our practices, monitor environmental impact, and identify opportunities for improvement.
As Cascade Springs continues to grow, we remain focused on evolving our systems and operations to further reduce impact while maintaining a high-quality guest experience.
